On 24 November 2023, a security guard was threatened at knifepoint by a customer during a dispute at an Aldi store on Hamilton Walk, Ashtown, Dublin 15. Thomas Kerrigan, a 41-year-old man, was charged with violent disorder and production of an article as a weapon. He appeared before Judge Bryan Smyth at Dublin District Court on 30 November, made no reply to the charges, and was remanded in custody with consent to bail to appear at Cloverhill District Court. The defence said the incident began over a request to frisk a person, and no one was physically harmed.
