    On Sunday, April 7, 2024, a car driven by Thomas Kelly, a 58-year-old man, swerved from hedge to hedge on narrow roads at Clough, Granard, County Longford. Sergeant Paul Stewart stopped the car, and a blood test returned an alcohol reading of 66/100. Mr Kelly was convicted of dangerous driving and drink driving at Longford District Court before Judge Bernadette Owens. He was fined €750 and disqualified for two years for drink driving, and fined €500 and banned for four years for dangerous driving, with a €500 recognisance set in case of appeal, as reported in April 2025.
