  • High Court orders sale of Saggart house seized as drug-trafficking proceeds Proceeds of crime (drug trafficking) · Co. Dublin

The Criminal Assets Bureau alleged that Daniel Kinahan, a man aged 44, and Thomas Kavanagh, a man aged 53, gave Jim Mansfield Jnr, a man aged 54, two suitcases containing €4.5 million in cash on Good Friday 2009 to be invested in property for the Kinahan group. When the Mansfield business entered receivership during the financial crash, the deal collapsed and the five-bedroom house at 10 Coldwater Lakes, Saggart, south Dublin, was handed over to the Kinahan gang around 2014. The Mansfield brothers consented to waiving their claims, Kavanagh was served at Belmarsh Prison in England, and Kinahan was served at two addresses in Dubai. On 13 October 2022, the High Court ruled the property was proceeds of drug-trafficking crime, and on 15 November 2022, Mr Justice MacGrath appointed Kevin McMeel as receiver to sell the house on the open market.

  • Garda probe into West Dublin firearms discovery focuses on Kavanagh Possession of firearms · Co. Dublin

In 2017, 15 firearms and 4,000 rounds of ammunition were discovered in a West Dublin warehouse. Declan Brady, considered a high-level member of the Kinahan cartel, was convicted and jailed in 2021 in connection with the weapons. The National Crime Agency secured Kavanagh's conviction for conspiracy to import €36 million worth of drugs, and documents from the firearms find led to the seizing of a Dover drugs haul linked to Kavanagh. As of April 2022, the Garda investigation into the guns discovery remains active and has focused on Thomas 'Bomber' Kavanagh's suspected direct role as the alleged criminal mastermind.

  • Wife of Kinahan gang member jailed for money laundering in Kildare Money laundering (concealing criminal proceeds) · Co. Kildare

Declan Brady, 56, a senior Kinahan Cartel member, and his wife Deirdre Brady, 55, were charged with laundering €770,499 in crime cash through bank accounts, a property mortgage, and a wedding at Druids Glen between January and December 2014 in Naas, Co Kildare. They pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court in April 2021, and in July 2021 Declan Brady was jailed for seven years and three months while Deirdre Brady received a three-year wholly suspended sentence. The DPP appealed the sentence as unduly lenient, and in December 2022 the Court of Appeal quashed the suspended sentence and re-sentenced Deirdre Brady to a two-year custodial term with the final 12 months suspended. Erika Lukacs, 37, a Hungarian woman, also received a three-year fully suspended sentence for laundering almost €200,000.
