Dany Boon, a French actor and film director, claims Thierry Fialek-Birles, a French man in his 30s, defrauded him of over €6.7 million through a non-existent Irish Central Bank investment scheme and yacht maintenance payments via SSMM between April and July 2021. Boon secured High Court freezing orders in July 2022, and most defendants subsequently withdrew from the case in September. The High Court granted judgment in Boon's favour in December 2022 and on 13 December ruled he is entitled to €4.87 million in damages, with receivers appointed over the defendants' assets.
