  Theresa Clarke, a 73-year-old woman from Knocklyon, Dublin, was struck by a bicycle while putting up Fine Gael election posters on Ranelagh Road in Ranelagh, South Dublin, at around 11pm on 4 June 2024. She was checking on a poster of her son-in-law, Fine Gael candidate John Clendennen, when the collision occurred. She was pronounced dead at 4.14pm on 9 June 2024 at Beaumont Hospital, and a post-mortem established the cause of death as severe cranial cerebral trauma. The male cyclist was uninjured, and Gardaí appealed for witnesses and dash-cam footage. At an inquest on 22 January 2025, the case was adjourned to 23 July 2025 under Section 25(1) of the Coroners Act as the investigation remains ongoing.
