  Terence Murray, a 32-year-old man, was charged with driving a large yellow crane while holding a mobile phone, a road traffic offence, at Roneragh, Figary, Fahan, County Donegal, at about 1.30pm on 15 January 2025. Garda Mark Flanagan, on mobile patrol, detected the offence, and a fixed penalty notice issued to Murray went unpaid. The case was heard at Buncrana District Court, where Judge Deirdre Gearty allowed it to proceed in Murray's absence, convicted him and fined him €250 with five months to pay, with €100 cash recognisance fixed in case of appeal. The sentencing was reported in September 2025, the latest development in the case.
