  On the evening of 5 July 2023, Gardaí stopped a vehicle in Kilkenny city centre and arrested a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s. In a follow-up search, cocaine with an estimated value of €40,000 to €46,000 was seized from a house in Kilkenny City. Sean Sutton, 36, and Tara Conroy were charged with possession of cocaine for personal use and for sale or supply. Both appeared before Kilkenny District Court on 6 July 2023, with Sutton remanded in custody and Conroy on bail. On 10 October 2023, the DPP directed trial on indictment and the case was adjourned to 26 October for service of a book of evidence.
