Tadhg Byrnes (20), with an address at Dungeeha, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick, had more than €3,600 worth of cannabis found during a Garda search of his home on 17 December 2021. The criminal damage to a car and the intoxication offences took place on 4 January 2024. At Newcastle West District Court in March 2024, Byrnes pleaded guilty to the cannabis possession, the criminal damage and the intoxication charges, and sentencing was adjourned. The latest development is that sentencing was put back to June 25 to give Byrnes a chance to pay compensation for the car damage.
