    On 28 July 2022 at around 8.45pm, a lorry rear-ended a Fiat 500 on the M1 at Ballyhattin, County Louth, after the car stopped in front of the lorry cab just north of Junction 18. The front seat passenger, whose name is not given, was taken to hospital. The driver, Sylvia Anginotti (74), a retired history lecturer with an address in Sheffield, was prosecuted for dangerous driving, but the judge reduced the charge to careless driving at Dundalk District Court. The case was reported on 27 October 2023, when Sylvia Anginotti was fined €300 and not disqualified from driving.
