  Svitlana Karabudak, a 49-year-old Ukrainian woman, is alleged to have used a friend's public services card to claim One Parent Family and Child Benefit payments under a false name at Bundoran Post Office, Donegal, between March 2023 and March 2024. Gardaí executed a search warrant at her address on 18 March 2024 and seized €4,100 in cash, and she was charged with 42 offences including theft, deception and forgery. Sources give the alleged loss as €9,484 in the theft charge and €21,416 in total. She was sent forward for trial after a Ballyshannon District Court appearance on 19 October 2024, and on 18 December 2024 she pleaded guilty to sample charges before Judge John Aylmer at Donegal Circuit Court, where sentencing was adjourned for a probation and welfare report. The latest development is that on 23 May 2025 the case was adjourned for 12 months on a repayment plan, with no sentence imposed.
