A woman in her 40s was arrested in Galway on 1 October 2026 on suspicion of mounting a six-year harassment campaign against David Plower and Susan Plower in Loughrea, Co Galway. The couple first contacted gardaí in January 2020 after receiving anonymous abusive letters, which were sent to their homes, workplaces, and extended family and friends. The letters, numbering between 400 and 500, contained baseless allegations, surveillance details such as vehicle registration plates and a hospital appointment, and the recurring taunt 'Catch us if you can'. The woman, who is known to the family but not related to the couple, was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the Northwestern Region. Gardaí carried out a search and seized phones and computers for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
