  Susan Byrne, 57, a woman originally from Dublin, was arrested at the Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise on 22 June 2021 after becoming abusive to Gardaí while slurring her speech. She told the officers, "why don't you go arrest foreigners." She admitted public order offences at Portlaoise District Court in July 2022, where Judge Andrew Cody ordered a probation report and adjourned the case to 1 December. In December 2022, Judge Michelle Finan read a positive probation report and bound Byrne to the peace for 12 months. She had relocated to Scotland but returned for the hearing.
