A 42-year-old man, Stephen McVeigh, was sentenced at Dundalk Circuit Court in March 2024 for setting fire to pallets at the front door of a family's home in Aghameen Park, Hoey's Lane, Dundalk, County Louth, in the early hours of 23 January 2023. Mobile phone footage showed McVeigh being directed by a woman, and CCTV from a nearby Applegreen showed a woman buying a jerry can and petrol. The judge, noting the attack appeared to have been directed from elsewhere, imposed four years and three months with the final 18 months suspended, and McVeigh is under Probation Service supervision for 12 months after release.
