On 21 February 2019, three men in a car approached a car clamper in Werburgh Street car park, Dublin 8, threatened him with a knife, threw chips at him, and rammed his van a number of times, causing him to jump a fence to avoid being run over. The victim, a man, suffered soft tissue injuries to his shoulder, neck and knees. Stephen McMullen, a 25-year-old man from Clondalkin, pleaded guilty to one count of coercion at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. He was sentenced on 28 November 2022 to two-and-a-half years with the final 18 months suspended, while his co-accused received sentences of two-and-a-half years and one year.
