    On 1 April 2026, a joint operation by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue's Customs Service led to the seizure of 50kg of suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of €1 million in Castlebellingham, Co Louth. Stephen McGuane, 45, and Ciaran McParland, 41, both of Bellingham Green, Castlebellingham, were arrested in the kitchen of their home after collecting eight boxes of the drugs from a logistics warehouse. Both men were charged with possession of drugs and possession of drugs for sale or supply under the Misuse of Drugs Act. They appeared before a special sitting of Dundalk District Court on 3 April 2026, where Judge Coggins remanded McGuane in custody with consent to bail and refused bail to McParland, remanding him in custody. Both are due to appear again on 8 April 2026.
