Stefan Sharkey, a 33-year-old man originally from Mullacre, was sentenced at Dundalk Circuit Court in December 2021 to five and a half years in prison for a series of drug-fuelled incidents over four days in October 2019. He threatened to kill two Dromad-based gardaí, his friend, and the man's mother in Ravensdale, then drove dangerously through mid Louth at over 180kph and fired a shotgun into the ground beside his car. A samurai sword and a knife bearing his DNA were recovered from his abandoned vehicle. The judge also disqualified him from driving for nine years and directed him to enter rehab as part of a suspended portion of the sentence.
