  On 11 March 2026 at JFL Avenue, Portlaoise, Co Laois, Stanislav Vasek (35), a welder, smeared phlegm and blood on a Garda vehicle and stuffed a blanket down a Garda cell toilet before urinating on it. He was arrested at the scene and taken to Abbeyleix Garda Station, where he was placed in a cell. He later admitted being intoxicated, threatening or abusive behaviour and criminal damage at Portlaoise District Court, where Judge Cody fined him €250 for each criminal damage incident and €500 for threatening and abusive behaviour, with the intoxication charge taken into account. The sentencing was reported in April 2026.
