Keith Delaney, 41, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to multiple counts of theft, one count of criminal damage and two counts of burglary committed between December 2024 and September 2025. The offences included stealing four guitars from a music school, a phone from a hotel in Dublin 4, a laptop and tablet from the Grand Hotel, entering the bedrooms of seven residents at a nursing home in Sandymount, and entering a house on Shelbourne Road, Ballsbridge, where retired nun Sister Julie Doran woke to find him in her room at 1.20 am. Delaney, who has 346 previous convictions, was on bail for all five offences when he committed the offending and is currently serving a nine-month sentence with a release date of September 2026. Judge Hayes adjourned the case until July 27 for a probation report, noting the convictions will take Delaney to over 350. Sister Doran told the court she no longer feels safe in her own home and has ongoing anxiety, especially at night.
