A single-vehicle collision occurred at Barnacor, Lanesboro, County Longford, at about 3.30am on 23 October 2023, and the driver left the scene. Gardaí traced the vehicle's registered owner, who said her daughter, 24-year-old Sinead Níc Eoin of Trim, County Meath, was driving, and the driver was then charged with driving without insurance. At Longford District Court she was not present, and her solicitor, James Murphy, said she had moved to Australia and had instructed him to plead guilty. On 20 December 2024 Judge Bernadette Owens imposed a €400 fine with four months to pay.
