Simon Ryan of 21 Shamrock Court, Nenagh, Tipperary, pleaded at Nenagh District Court to possession of cannabis, an offence dated to July 27, 2022 at Shamrock Court, as reported in October 2023. Gardaí searched his house under the Misuse of Drugs Act and found 14 deals of cannabis with an estimated value of €370, along with weighing scales, further deal bags and a mobile phone. His solicitor said he had been smoking cannabis at the time and asked that he be allowed to take part in the Restorative Justice programme, as he wished to travel to Australia next year. Judge MacGrath adjourned the matter to December to assess whether he is a suitable candidate for the programme.
