latest first- Simon Collins sentenced for drug driving in Kerry Drug driving (intoxicated driving) · Co. Kerry
On 18 January 2020, Simon Collins, a 45-year-old man and son of Phil Collins, was stopped at Derrycunnihy, Co Kerry, after exiting a private road, and his oral fluid specimen tested positive for cocaine and cannabis while a blood sample tested positive for cocaine. He was taken to Killarney Garda Station at 3.50am, where a vehicle search under the Misuse of Drugs Act led to a guilty plea for possession of cocaine the same day. Collins contested a charge of intoxicated driving at Killarney District Court, where the defence argued the garda had not properly formed his opinion that Collins was under the influence. Judge David Waters found the evidence sufficient and disqualified Collins from the road for one year and fined him €400.
