  On 29 February 2020, a 39-year-old woman, Siga Zelvyte, of Newbridge, County Kildare, had her unmuzzled Staffordshire Bull Terrier attack a Labrador at Lakeside Park, Newbridge. The Labrador sustained a two to three centimetre cut to its ear requiring stitches, and Zelvyte did not hold a licence for the restricted breed dog. At Naas District Court on 16 February 2023, Judge Desmond Zaidan banned her from keeping animals for five years without imposing a fine. The defence described the incident as a freak accident, and the judge noted the dog could have attacked a child.
