On 6 August 2025, at about 9.15pm, gardaí on patrol at Gaddyduff, Clonmany, saw Shay Canny, a 28-year-old man, sniffing a substance on his way into the Clonmany Music Festival. Gardaí stopped and searched him and found a small amount of white powder. At Carndonagh District Court he pleaded guilty to a drugs possession charge, and the judge accepted the early plea and ordered him to donate €1,800 to the White Oaks rehabilitation centre. The case was adjourned for one month, with a receipt for the donation due by 17 February 2026, failing which he will be convicted of possession of drugs and fined €2,000.
