  Shanks Kaunda, a man now living in Killeshandra, was stopped at a Garda checkpoint in Rathcronan, Granard, on May 14, 2024, and was caught driving without car insurance for a sixth time. In July 2024 he appeared at Longford District Court, pleaded guilty to a number of driving offences and had his case adjourned to September 17 pending a community service report. He was then sentenced to a 10-year driving ban, 340 hours of community service in lieu of a four-month prison term, and a €450 fine with five months to pay, as reported on October 1, 2024.
