On 6 February 2023 at 3.20am, Shane O'Sullivan, a 26-year-old man of Banard, Gneeveguilla, Rathmore, Co Kerry, was searched by gardaí at Well Lane South in Killarney, and two bags of white powder were found on him. At the time he was a probationary member of An Garda Síochána, and he resigned after the incident. On 29 January 2025 at Killarney District Court he pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine for sale or supply, and the judge rejected a Probation of Offenders' Act dismissal. The latest development is that Judge David Waters fined him €400.
