On 8 October 2022 on the Naul Road, Dublin, Shane Murray, a 21-year-old man from Woodhazel Terrace, Ballymun, knocked down a Croatian cyclist, a DHL courier, while driving a stolen car, then drove on without stopping or checking on him; a Snapchat video of the collision went viral. The cyclist suffered a broken ankle and leg and needed surgery. Gardaí spotted Murray later that morning, he was later identified as the driver, and he pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to the driving offences and to a robbery on Dame Street on 28 September 2022. On 26 November 2024 he was jailed for three years, with an 18-month robbery sentence running concurrently and a four-year driving ban.
