  Shane Matthews is alleged to have breached a court order banning him from RTÉ Cork's premises and from contacting its staff by shouting outside the building on Fr Matthew Quay on 17 July. He was first charged in February with criminal damage at RTÉ Cork, after red paint was allegedly thrown at the front door, and on 17 June he was charged with threatening behaviour for allegedly breaching bail by shouting outside the building on 10 June. He appeared before a court in Cork on 29 July, where he was charged with engaging in threatening behaviour, the DPP directed summary disposal of the two criminal damage counts, and he claimed RTÉ had bugged his phone. Judge Leech remanded him in continuing custody until 17 August, after a defence request for an adjournment so that solicitor Eddie Burke could handle the case.
