• Kilkenny man sentenced to nine months for pub toilets assault Assault causing harm · Co. Kilkenny

Shane Delaney, whose age is given as 36 in one report and 27 in another, is alleged to have called a man into the toilets of a pub at Brogan's Yard, John's Street, Kilkenny, on 22 December 2023, where the man was found unconscious and taken to hospital. Kilkenny District Court accepted jurisdiction and adjourned the case for hearing, as reported in October 2024. Judge Carthy later convicted Delaney of assault causing harm and sentenced him to nine months in prison, as reported in December 2025. His solicitor said he would appeal the severity of the sentence, and Delaney was released on bail pending that appeal.
