A 69-year-old Azerbaijani man, Shamil Nabiev, died a number of days after an alleged assault on 25 February 2024 at the Dundrum House Hotel accommodation centre in Co Tipperary. A 65-year-old Ukrainian man, Ivan Volkov, was arrested on 2 March and charged with assault causing harm and affray. At a special sitting of Newcastle West District Court on 3 March, Judge Carol Anne Coolican ordered an independent postmortem and remanded Volkov in custody. He is to appear before Nenagh District Court on 6 March.
