    Selina Flynn, a three-months-pregnant woman, was assaulted at her home in Kildare Town on 20 June 2021 when her then partner Henry Brennan, 28, a father-of-five from Tullamore, Co Offaly, stood on her face, pulled clumps of her hair and kicked her in the stomach during a row about his parenting. Flynn alerted gardaí to the incident and Brennan was charged with assault causing harm. He pleaded guilty at Naas Circuit Criminal Court on 13 June 2023, where the judge described the offence as very serious and pretty vicious. Brennan was sentenced to three years, with the final two years suspended on condition of good behaviour for three years and a €5,000 payment to Flynn.
