Sean Ward (Fish Exports) Ltd, a fish processing company at Roshine Road, Killybegs, County Donegal, was charged with fisheries offences relating to the accuracy of weighing equipment used to weigh fish following an inspection on 14 and 15 September 2015. The company, with director Sean Óg Ward, was sent forward for trial at Donegal District Court in February 2024. After a three-day trial at Letterkenny Circuit Court, Judge John Aylmer directed the jury to find the company not guilty on both counts due to a lack of evidence. Fisheries representatives criticised the decision to bring the case.
