Chang Teng Wang, a 58-year-old man, admitted vigorously shaking his 10-month-old grandson Seán Wang at Melville Rise, Finglas, Dublin 11, in August 2019, causing head and neck trauma that led to the child's death. The baby was taken to Temple Street Children's Hospital in cardiac arrest shortly after midnight on 13 August 2019 and died two days later. Wang pleaded guilty to the unlawful killing at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. On 13 November 2023, Judge Martina Baxter sentenced him to six and a half years in prison, with the final 12 months suspended on strict conditions.
