  Three men were arrested and charged in February 2025 following a Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau operation after 100 kilos of cannabis worth €2 million were recovered from a van and a further €1 million worth of cannabis, MDMA, amphetamines and ketamine was found at an apartment in Blanchardstown. Gary Hanley, 35, a man on disability benefit, Sean Mackey, 53, a casino croupier originally from South Africa, and Jie Liu, 39, a food delivery driver, were intercepted on the N3 northbound on 22 February 2025 after driving to Athboy, Co Meath, where phones were exchanged. The DPP directed trial on indictment in the circuit court, and the cases were adjourned until 17 June 2025.

  Gardaí under Operation Tara intercepted a van and searched an apartment in Blanchardstown, Dublin, on 22 February 2024, seizing 100kg of cannabis and other drugs with an estimated street value of €3 million. Three men, Gary Hanley (35, Irish), Sean Mackey (53, Irish) and Jie Liu (39, reported as Irish), were arrested and charged with possession and possession with intent to supply cannabis, with Liu facing additional charges for further drugs at the apartment. At Dublin District Court on 24 February, Hanley was remanded in custody while Mackey and Liu were granted bail subject to €25,000 independent sureties. Hanley was later released on bail through the High Court, and the case was adjourned to May 2024 at Cloverhill District Court.
