Sean Hogan of Cremorgan, Timahoe, county Laois, was stopped while driving a car at Hazel Grove, Towerhill, Borrisokane, on 1 October 2020, and found to be over the legal drink driving limit with no insurance or driver's licence while disqualified from driving. His solicitor told Nenagh District Court he had been taking the car to have it repaired in order to give it to his son as a present. Hogan pleaded guilty to the charges in April 2022, and his solicitor noted he has significant addiction issues and asked for leniency and no custodial sentence.
