Revenue Customs Officers seized approximately 30kg of cannabis, estimated at between €560,000 and €620,000, from two suitcases belonging to Seán Grehan, a man aged 28 (reported as 29 in some sources) of Blackrock, Dublin, at Shannon Airport on 12 November 2025 following an intelligence-led joint operation with An Garda Síochána. Grehan was arrested at 6.10pm that evening and charged with possession of cannabis for sale or supply and possession of cannabis under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. He was remanded in custody at Gort District Court on 13 November 2025, and after a contested bail hearing at Ennis District Court the High Court reduced his cash surety from €20,000 to €2,000 in January 2026. On 5 August 2026 Grehan entered a signed guilty plea at Ennis Circuit Court and was sentenced to 55 months in prison, with 18 months of a 73-month term suspended and the sentence backdated to when he first went into custody.
