  On April 9, 2021, €28,000 worth of cocaine was found at an address on Lahinch Road, Ennis, Co. Clare. Sean Fitzsimons, 35, a father of five from Ennis, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to sell or supply. At Ennis Circuit Court in May 2024, Judge Francis Comerford imposed a 32-month prison sentence, with the final 16 months suspended for three years. The judge accepted Garda evidence of duress and noted Fitzsimons was a drug user who acted to pay down a drug debt. Imprisonment was deferred by one week so Fitzsimons could attend his child's First Holy Communion.
