Seamus Robert, a man now 61, was in his early twenties when he sexually abused two girls aged from around six by enticing them into his Dublin home to see his kittens between 1982 and 1988. The first victim reported the abuse to gardaí in 2016 and named her childhood friend, who confirmed she was also abused by Robert when young. Robert, who had no previous convictions and later worked in the homeless sector for 20 years, pleaded guilty to a sample count of indecent assault and one count of unlawful assault just before his trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Judge Martin Nolan sentenced him to five years in prison.
