    Michael Ryan, 67, of Rathanny, Tipperary, was convicted by a jury in November 2021 of five counts of indecently assaulting his relative Vanessa Merrigan and one count of sexually assaulting his relative Sarah O'Connell, both teenagers, between December 1987 and December 1990. One indecent assault took place at Bansha Woods, Tipperary. Merrigan reported the offences to Tipperary Garda Station in September 2018, and Ryan was arrested in February 2019. He pleaded not guilty but was found guilty at trial, and on 17 December 2021 at Kilkenny Circuit Court he was sentenced to two years' imprisonment and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.
