  On 5 May 2018, Simon Quilligan, a 40-year-old man, was heard saying he would kill everyone at a halting site on Arden Way, Tullamore, Co Offaly, where John McDonagh, Melissa Cowman, Sandra O'Brien and Victoria Doherty were present. A jury at the Central Criminal Court found him guilty of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and not guilty of attempted murder in December 2020. He was sentenced in March 2021. The Court of Appeal heard his appeal on 25 April 2023 and reserved its judgment.

  In 2016, several caravans illegally moved into Church Hill estate in Tullamore, Offaly, resulting in a High Court injunction requiring them to vacate. Sandra O'Brien, a woman and mother of four, was served with court proceedings in February 2022 and gave an undertaking to vacate the estate by 10am on 17 May 2022. On that date, the court was told her caravan had been moved from one part of the estate to another rather than removed. Mr Justice Alexander Owens ordered her arrest for contempt of court, as she was not represented nor in court for the hearing.
