A man, Samir Ouzougogh, 43, an I.T. Manager in Athlone, was summonsed for allegedly travelling at 202kph, 82kph over the limit, on the M6 near Kilbeggan on 24 July 2021. He appeared at Tullamore District Court in June 2022 and pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving. Judge Patricia Cronin refused to reduce the charge to careless driving, describing 202kph as a horrific speed. The case was adjourned to 20 February 2023 for hearing.
