  Viorel Tanase, a 31-year-old man, and Samariteanca Tinichigiu, a 30-year-old woman, are each charged with three counts of human trafficking in County Donegal between March 21 and April 17, 2016, involving a child and other victims. Tanase is additionally charged with dangerous driving at Ballyhooley, Raphoe, on April 11, 2016, when he allegedly drove a vehicle at high speed causing a collision that threatened three people. Both were arrested by detectives following the 2016 incidents and first appeared at Letterkenny District Court on September 9, 2025, where the DPP directed trial by indictment and bail conditions were set. On January 28, 2026, both appeared at Buncrana District Court for service of the Book of Evidence and were sent forward for trial by judge and jury to the Circuit Court in Letterkenny, with the next sitting set for February 3.
