Samantha O'Reilly, 38, and Steven Cummins, 39, a Dublin couple, have been charged with perjury for allegedly giving false statements in affidavits filed in Conor McGregor's civil appeal against a finding that he raped Nikita Hand. The alleged false statements were made at Lincoln Lane, Dublin 7, on 14 January 2025, with O'Reilly facing an additional count for a statement on 6 May 2025. Following a 2025 referral from the Court of Appeal to the DPP, the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation investigated and arrested both at their home in Cherry Orchard Green, Ballyfermot, on 29 September 2026. They appeared before Judge Michele Finan at Dublin District Court, made no reply to the charges, were granted bail with conditions, and the DPP directed trial on indictment in the Circuit Criminal Court. Both cases were adjourned to 9 November 2026 for service of the book of evidence.

Steven Cummins and Samantha O'Reilly, a couple in their 30s, were arrested in Dublin on 11 September 2025 over alleged perjury in the civil case between Nikita Hand and Conor McGregor. The couple had been introduced as new evidence in McGregor's appeal against a High Court jury finding that he raped Hand at the Beacon Hotel in December 2018, claiming to have seen Hand's then-boyfriend assault her that night, but their evidence was withdrawn by McGregor's own counsel on the morning of the appeal. The Court of Appeal referred the matter to the DPP, who directed the Garda to investigate, with the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation leading the inquiry. The couple were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and released without charge on 11 September 2025, with a file to be prepared for the DPP and investigations ongoing.

Nikita Hand, a woman aged 35, alleges that Conor McGregor, a man aged 36, raped her and that James Lawrence, a man aged 36, also sexually assaulted her in the penthouse of the Beacon Hotel in Sandyford, Dublin, on 9 December 2018. The DPP declined to prosecute McGregor or Lawrence in 2020, but Hand brought a civil damages action in 2021. A High Court jury in November 2024 found McGregor liable for the assault and awarded Hand €248,603 in damages, while finding Lawrence not liable. The Court of Appeal unanimously dismissed McGregor's appeal in July 2025, and the Supreme Court rejected his further appeal in December 2025. Gardaí are investigating Samantha O'Reilly and Stephen Cummins for alleged perjury arising from affidavits withdrawn at the start of the appeal.
