  Patrick O'Reilly, a man aged 17, and Saad Al Werfally, a Libyan man aged 36, were killed in a collision on Hyde Road in Limerick City just after midnight on June 26, 2020, when O'Reilly lost control of his car and struck a tree and the cyclist. The prosecution alleged that O'Reilly and his friend William Faulkner, a man aged 24, had been racing one another in their cars. Faulkner was charged with dangerous driving and endangerment and pleaded not guilty at his trial at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court. A jury found him guilty of dangerous driving and not guilty of endangerment after deliberating for 77 minutes, and he was remanded on continuing bail to appear for sentence on July 20.
