  • Money mule given suspended sentence over €20,000 online banking scam funds Money laundering · Co. Dublin

On 5 September 2023, Ryan Odusanya, a 20-year-old man from Balbriggan, Dublin, held €20,000 in criminal proceeds in his bank account. The funds came from an online banking scam that targeted an elderly couple from Kerry, who transferred €5,380 after receiving a text posing as their daughter, and a business owner from Galway, from whose company account two €20,000 withdrawals were made. Odusanya pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, and sentencing was adjourned to Thursday with him remanded into custody until then. The latest development is that Judge Martin Nolan imposed a 20-month prison sentence, suspended in full, on Thursday 4 December 2025.
