• Man jailed for 10 months after knife found in Killygordon shed Trespassing with a knife (possession of an offensive weapon) · Co. Donegal

  On 8 December 2024, gardaí were called at 5.50am to a house in Killygordon, Co Donegal, after a woman reported two males knocking on her front door. Returning shortly afterwards, they found Ryan Campbell, a 24-year-old man (one report says 25), hiding in a shed with a seven-inch kitchen knife, and he was arrested that morning. He was charged with trespassing with a knife and criminal damage, refused bail at Letterkenny District Court, and remanded in custody. Judge Ciaran Liddy later gave him a 10-month prison sentence for possession of an offensive weapon, with the criminal damage charge taken into account, a sentence reported on 17 June 2025.

  Robert Kennedy, a 50-year-old man, was slashed on the neck, ear and head with a sharp blade at Longbrae, Castlefin, Co Donegal, in July 2022 while celebrating his 50th birthday with family. Ryan Campbell, a 25-year-old man, was charged with causing serious harm after declining to attend interview and was later arrested for another matter. Campbell was sent forward for trial to Letterkenny Circuit Court, pleaded guilty to assault causing harm on the trial date after a jury was empanelled, and was jailed for four years backdated to his custody in December 2024.
