Ruairí Lally, a 21-year-old man, met a young woman through mutual friends and went to a concert with her in April 2023, and in December 2023 she complained to gardaí about his harassment of her. He was sentenced on 22 July 2024 to two years in jail with one year suspended for that harassment, and on 4 September 2025 a civil restraining order barred him from contacting her until September 2028. He pleaded guilty to threatening to kill or cause serious harm to her on 27 September 2025 in County Cork, and was arrested at Togher Garda station on 30 September 2025. In a report dated 13 February 2026, Lally was remanded in continuing custody for sentence, with a psychiatric report ordered and the matter adjourned to 5 March 2026.
