On 21 February 2022, Nicole Keenan and Tia Keenan, both 22, assaulted Rosaleen Ward inside a car parked on Main Street, Longford, in broad daylight. The twin sisters, both of 82 Ardnacassa Avenue, Longford, abandoned a young child in a buggy to carry out the attack, leaving Ward with bruising to her right cheek, bite marks on her face, and damage to her stomach area. Garda Noelle Fahy and a colleague found the scene; CCTV showed Fahy dragging Nicole from the car before her arrest, while Tia was arrested later that day. Both were charged with section 3 assault and section 6 public order, and Tia entered an early guilty plea. At a special sitting of Longford District Court in March 2023, Judge Vincent Deane sentenced Nicole to seven months in prison with the final two months suspended and Tia to six months suspended for two years, with a no-contact condition imposed on both.
