  On Sunday 1 December 2024 at about 4.30pm, a man was allegedly attacked with a hurley and a car was rammed on Lower Main Street in Rathkeale, County Limerick, as shown in a video shared online. A man in his 20s was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 on 3 December, and Robert Quilligan (18), a man, was later charged with violent disorder and production of an article. On 4 December he appeared before Limerick District Court, was granted bail on €500 cash and sign-on conditions, and was remanded to appear at Newcastle West court on 28 January.
