Robert Quigley (35) of 52 Esker Gate, Mountmellick, Co. Laois, had ten bags of cocaine found hidden in a cylinder in the hotpress of his house during a search under warrant on 14 December 2023. In court he admitted having cocaine for sale or supply at his address on that date. The defence said the drugs were for a party in Galway or for his own use, but the judge said she was not convinced by the Galway claim. He was remanded on bail, referred to the probation services for a report, and the case was adjourned to Portlaoise District Court on 7 October, with no sentence reported yet.
