Robert Cristinel Codreanu, a 22-year-old man, was sentenced at Tullamore District Court after being charged with presenting a false Romanian driving licence. He had applied at the National Driver Licence Service office in Tullamore, Offaly, to exchange the Romanian licence for a full Irish licence, after seeing a TikTok video suggesting a licence could be obtained elsewhere. Garda analysis confirmed the licence was false, and staff had contacted gardai after observing it. The judge fined him €200 with six months to pay and ordered the fake licence destroyed. He had no previous convictions and was not driving at the time.
